November 22, 2004: The Mid-Fairfield County Chapter will be conducting the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course from December 26-December 30th for those interested in becoming certified as lifeguards.
September 13, 2004: The Westport Fire Department and the friends and family of 4-year-old Michaela Richmond invite the community at large to donate blood in her honor. This special blood drive takes place on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the VFW Hall, 465 Riverside Avenue, Westport between the hours of 1:30 PM and 6:15 PM.
September 9, 2004: American Red Cross Honors its Volunteers, the American Red Cross Mid-Fairfield County Chapter annual Volunteer Recognition Reception on September 8, 2004. The event took place at the Shore and County Club in Norwalk.
September 1, 2004: On Wednesday, September 22, 2004, the Mid-Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its annual Dining for Disaster Relief fundraiser, asking restaurants and eateries throughout Mid-Fairfield County to donate 10% of their gross proceeds, or a flat $500 gift to support their local Red Cross chapter. The event will raise funds for disaster relief in the chapter towns of Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton.
August 18, 2004: American Red Cross Responds to Hurricane Charley: Activities in Florida and How Connecticut Residents can locate Loved Ones in Florida - In the largest storm response effort since Hurricane Andrew, the American Red Cross is coordinating a massive response effort focusing initially on providing safety and shelter for the now homeless, as well as food and dry clothing to tens of thousands of people.
August 11, 2004: One Year After - Massive Power Outages Remind Us to Prepare for the Unexpected. This week marks the one-year anniversary of the massive man-made power outage that crippled dozens of cities in seven states and eastern Canada, affecting more than 50 million people. Blackouts occur more frequently during the summer when power usage is at its peak. The American Red Cross urges people to prepare now for unexpected events, especially during this time of year, when wildfires, hurricanes and heat-related emergencies are prevalent.
July 30, 2004: Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception - On Wednesday September 8, 2004 the Mid-Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception at the Shore and Country Club in Norwalk from 5:30 7:30 PM.
June 2, 2004: Get Healthy Norwalk Week - Norwalk Mayor Alex Knopp has designated June 20 through June 27 as Get Healthy Norwalk Week. Health and human agencies throughout the city, as well as area businesses, are collaborating in an effort to promote good health.

May 24, 2004: Blood Volunteer Award - Harry started his career as a Blood Services volunteer on June 23, 1986 for the Norwalk/Wilton chapter, before it merged with the Westport/Weston chapter to become the Mid-Fairfield County Chapter.
May 16, 2004: Tom Chapin Concert - Tom Chapin and His Band returned to Fairfield County on Sunday, May 16, 2004, for an hour long performance at the Norwalk Concert Hall in Norwalk. The concert, geared for children ages 2-11 years old, included a mix of humor and storytelling that include sing-a-longs and interaction with the audience.
April 18, 2004: National Volunteer Week - Each year millions of Americans donate one of the most precious gifts of all to the American Red Cross: TIME. During the week of April 22-28, chapters across the country will say thank you to their volunteers by celebrating National Volunteer Week.
April 14, 2004: Holocaust Day of Remembrance - this year April 18th - was established in 1980 by Congress to commemorate victims of the 20th century World War II genocide that took the lives of millions. More than 55 years after the end of World War II, the American Red Cross continues to help families document the fates of loved ones missing since the Holocaust.
April 13, 2004: Red Cross Gala Deemed a Success - Acrobats, jugglers, and mystery box prizes were just a part of the American Red Cross inaugural gala to benefit the Mid-Fairfield County and New Canaan Chapters. Carnivale, held on March 27, 2004, attracted 250 guests and raised nearly $200,000.
March 2, 2004: March is Red Cross Month - The month of March is a very special time for the Mid-Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Its a time designated by the President of the United States as Red Cross Month.
March 1, 2004: Red Cross Honors Unsung Heros - More than 250 people turned out to the Continental Manor in Norwalk on Monday to celebrate the Ninth Annual Unsung Heroes Breakfast.
January 16, 2004: With only 151 units of blood on the shelves, the American Red Cross, Connecticut Blood Services Region today advised hospitals that a strict blood rationing program for blood types O-Negative and O-Positive will begin on Friday, January 16, 2004.
